OpenAI is rolling out advertising in ChatGPT in Denmark. Read about the opportunities for data-driven advertising in a brand-new format, and why you should prepare your strategy right now.
OpenAI has officially announced that advertising in ChatGPT is expanding to 31 European markets – including Denmark.
As is often the case with the launch of new major ad formats – think back to the rollout of Meta Ads – there is an onboarding phase. Initially, ChatGPT Ads are reserved for selected global agency chains and technology partners. OpenAI expects to open the platform for self-service in late summer, after which it will become available to a broader spectrum of companies, just as we know it from Google Ads and Meta.
However, even though access is currently limited, the time has come to consider how this channel fits into your overall marketing strategy. We know from past experience that OpenAI’s rollouts move fast.
At Iternum Digital, we have already gained access to test ChatGPT Ads in the US market, and we see huge potential for Danish businesses.
For Danish companies, a brand-new advertising channel is opening up on a platform used daily by millions of users. The use cases in ChatGPT range widely, from high-level research and product comparisons to solving complex, professional tasks.
As an agency, we are particularly excited about the new data dimensions this channel can provide. Where traditional keyword advertising is based on specific search terms, conversational ads rely on the contextual dialogue between the user and the AI model. This gives us new opportunities to understand target group behavior and intent much earlier in the decision-making process.
Just like you know from your existing setups on Meta and Google Ads, this allows us to optimize efforts specifically toward your overall business goals, whether you work with B2B lead generation or e-commerce.
As a company, it is not necessarily about throwing all your budgets at the newest platform from day one. The key is understanding what role ChatGPT Ads should play in your overall media structure and budget allocation.
A new channel rarely creates value in isolation. It is the synergy with the rest of your marketing activities that drives results.
ChatGPT Ads do not replace your work with GEO/SEO. On the contrary, these efforts complement each other.
It simply underlines the importance of having a unified strategy for your presence in the AI ecosystem. Here, it is crucial to think in terms of both paid visibility and organic authority. While we await the broad rollout of ads, the most obvious place to start is your organic work with Generative Engine Optimization (GEO).
If you are not already strategically investing in optimizing your content to be cited and understood by AI assistants (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, etc.), this is a focus area you should examine more closely. It builds the foundation for your future AI visibility.
Feel free to read our whitepaper on GEO for a deeper insight here.
The transition to AI-driven search and advertising requires strategic considerations. How you best utilize the formats, allocate budgets, and ensure coherence with your other channels depends on your specific market, competitive situation, and business goals.
